Make Memories with Fleet Week in New York City at the Intrepid
One of the most exciting events to attend during your Memorial Day getaway in Manhattan is Fleet Week.
This year’s celebration will run May 23-29 and includes ship visitations, military band concerts, and aviation events designed to honor the Sailors, Marines, and Coast Guardsmen that make up our brave sea services.
Enjoy Fleet Week in New York City with a stop at the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum. Located aboard the aircraft carrier Intrepid, the museum features historic video footage, original artifacts like the space shuttle Enterprise, and even a tour of a “top secret” guided missile submarine, the Growler.
From the flight deck of the carrier, you can watch a screening of Top Gun on May 25, see the parade of ships in the Hudson River, celebrate with a night of swing dancing on May 26, or pay tribute to service members at a special ceremony on Pier 86 on Memorial Day.
In their honor, veterans and service members receive free admission to the Intrepid in New York City and all activities on the Pier during Fleet Week are free to the public.
