  • Major League Baseball at Citifield July 16 -   The Midsummer Classic comes to Queens, as the Mets host the Major League Baseball All-Star Game at Citi Field. The game itself is just one component of what MLB calls "All-Star Summer," a series of events July 1216, including the T-Mobile MLB All-Star FanFest at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

  • Summer Restaurant Week - The summer dates this year are Monday, July 22 through Friday, August 16, and bookings open on July 8.

  • New York Philharmonic Concerts in the Parks - Alan Gilbert is at the helm of four out of five New York Philharmonic concerts in the city's five boroughs this season, conducting Dvorak's Cello Concerto (with Phil principal cellist Carter Brey as soloist) and Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 5 in Brooklyn (July 10), Queens (July 11), Manhattan (July 15) and the Bronx (July 16). The Staten Island program on July 14 has yet to be announced, but will most likely involve the Phil's brass section.

  • Shakespeare in the Park -  Another season of the Bard's greats performed in open air at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park. Created by the late Joseph Papp and presented by the Public, Shakespeare in the Park has endured not just because it's a night of free theater in New York's backyard, but because it's a night of great performances by some of the most talented actors of our day, including Meryl Streep, Kevin Kline, Al Pacino, Oliver Platt, Blythe Danner, Philip Seymour Hoffman, George C. Scott and Denzel Washington.
