| Emma Lazarus is most famous for having penned "The New Colossus," the sonnet inscribed on the base of Lady Liberty. ("Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free...") This exhibition at the Museum of Jewish Heritage addresses both the 19th-century poet's best-known works and details of her biography, including her Sephardic background, life in New York City and her work for a variety of Jewish causes.
